Flag S.p.A. the history of an Italian success in the world

Flag S.p.A. has been founded 50 years ago with the name Flexon Italiana. In collaboration with the group Montecatini Edison it starts manufacturing synthetic materials for the agricultural sector, specifically waterproofing membranes for polyethylene tunnels for protected cultures and kit for quick waterproofing of water containing areas.

In 1970 the company changes its name into Flag S.p.A. and increases its business areas. Thanks to Flag S.p.A. synthetic PVC membranes are introduced in Italy for industrial roofing and the first examples of underground waterproofing start to be conveived.

The success is immediate and allows the company becoming a undebated market leader. Since then Flag S.p.A. has continued developing and proposing innovative waterproofing solutions that respond to the most demanding technical requests worldwide.

FLAG was also forerunner in the use of TPO waterproof membranes. In the 90ies it introduces polyolefin (polyethylene and polypropylene) in its production range of waterproofing synthetic membranes. The first applications were realised in the hydraulic sector where, since then, thousands of square meters have been successfully set.

Thanks to these first successful experiences and to research and development, resulting from the collaboration with several manufacturers of raw materials, the company sets up the membrane which will soon become the outmost waterproofing membrane FLAGON TPO.

It’s no more an Italian success only, but it assumes a global dimension that leads Flag S.p.A. to open 5 branches in Europe and be the supplier of waterproofing systems in the most important worldwide works.

At the end of 2015, FLAG Spa enters the French SOPREMA GROUP leader in the production of roofing and waterproofing materials, thanks to the collaboration of 6.260 people all over the world and a turnover by 2.130 million Euros in 2015.
